Post by chapa »

Same problem here! Are we only who have this slowered internet connection after these updates? I use internet sharing from my phone at usb.

How can i restore this linux system two days ago? This updates come before problems start:
1. patch
2. python-urllib3
3. python3-chardet
4. isc-dhcp-client
5. isc-dhcp-common
6. gnome-desktop3-data
7. libgnome-desktop-3-7
8. gir1.2-gnomedesktop-3.0
9. gnome-session-bin
10. gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
11. libgstreamer-plugins-bad0.10-0

Thanks, and sorry if my english not so good..

I think it's safe to say your slow connections are not caused by taking any updates from Linux Mint, most of the times it's cased by your internet provider or your connections. I've been running Linux mint for sometime now and never had problems with my internet connection. I would say give your internet provider a call and see what's going on.

Hi robgoss, my Linux computer was doing very well before the last updated, my Win7 one works fine, my Android device also along with girlfriend's iPhone. I'm not blaming the whole last update, just make the point that the internet connection on my Linux machine went rubbish after the last update.

I would like to know if there is any kind of "fine tunning" on the internet setup within Mint just to make it work better.

Regards,

One or more of these three updates might well have been "the bad guy(s)":
python-urllib3
isc-dhcp-client
isc-dhcp-common

Unfortunately, I don't know how to revert these. Were they level 4 or 5, by any chance?

That's a good question anything with level 4 or 5, and higher should not be installed. I've never experienced anything like this and I run this distribution on 5 machines.

The packages of levels 2, 4 and 5 are listed in /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintUpdate/rules. Anything else is 1 if it comes from Linux Mint, 3 if it comes from Ubuntu or elsewhere (most packages).
The mentioned packages are not listed in this file, and don't come from Mint, hence they are level 3.
