I'm not really sure why it says it has installed but then it hasn't ? It's annoying because I need to use it in my room and at work but I can't

cd rtlwifi_new-rock.new_btcoex
make clean

swlps: (bool)
swenc:using hardware crypto (default 0 [hardware])
 (bool)
ips:using no link power save (default 1 is open)
 (bool)
fwlps:using linked fw control power save (default 1 is open)
 (bool)
msi:Set to 1 to use MSI interrupts mode (default 0)
 (bool)
debug:Set debug level (0-5) (default 0) (int)
disable_watchdog:Set to 1 to disable the watchdog (default 0)
 (bool)
ant_sel:Set to 1 or 2 to force antenna number (default 0)

That is what is causing the problems

Code: Select all

sudo dkms -r rtlwifi-new/0.6~trusty --all
Reboot and

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe -r rtl8723be
sudo modprobe rtl8723be ant_sel=1
iwlist scan | egrep -i 'SSID|level'
sudo modprobe -r rtl8723be
sudo modprobe rtl8723be ant_sel=2
iwlist scan | egrep -i 'SSID|level'
I hope it works this time

wait so do I run this command:

sudo dkms -r rtlwifi-new/0.6~trusty --all

and then this
sudo modprobe -r rtl8723be
sudo modprobe rtl8723be ant_sel=1
iwlist scan | egrep -i 'SSID|level'
sudo modprobe -r rtl8723be
sudo modprobe rtl8723be ant_sel=2
iwlist scan | egrep -i 'SSID|level'

Reboot after running the sudo dkms -r command. After it is booted back up then run the rest

Hi, I have the exact wireless adaptor in the threads name on a HP laptop. I've found that the wireless connection is much worse in Mint then windows 10 and came here.

I tried the 2nd solution posted on page 1 by laurent85. After rebooting I now have no wireless connection. The previous behaviour was it would swap to the wireless after the ethernet cable was unplugged. Now the laptop just says it's been disconnected from ethernet and sulks (doesn't swap to wireless). Does anyone have suggestions?

I hitched on this thread since it was originally the same problem, please tell me if I should make my own thread. (I am aware of what the How to Get Help thread says)

Much better, see what

Code: Select all

modinfo -p rtl8723be
says now, if it lists ant_sel, try my commands for sudo modprobe -r rtl8723be, sudo modprobe rtl8723be ant_sel=2 along with the iwlist scan
