Re: wireless problem
OK.... Try the following things:
1. Select the optimal channel for your network:
https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... st-channel
(item 1, left column)
2. Make sure that your network meets the following requirements:
- WPA2 Personal with "AES only" (no TKIP);
- Visible network name (SSID), so not hidden. Hiding the SSID is even dangerous(!):

(item 1, left column)
3. Disable IPv6:

Re: wireless problem
Thanks for the reply. I think I fixed it. I just need to let the LAN1 tap open.
Anyways, thanks! If the problem still persist, I will try to do that!

Mihailo,
How exactly is this done? I have been having the same issue on and off for awhile now but let it go since it's more on than off. I'd like to fix it for good if possible. Do you mind sharing how you did the LAN1 thing?
thx

Re: wireless problem
Well, for LAN internet (wireless) you need to login into your account and don't close that tab, just while working, it should stay opened.
Re: wireless problem
That's an interesting fix. I did try Pjotr's 3 suggestions but that didn't work. Perhaps my problem, though similar, has a different cause.Mihailo wrote:Well, for LAN internet (wireless) you need to login into your account and don't close that tab, just while working, it should stay opened.
thanks very much. I may just have to post separately.

Re: wireless problem
I'm having somewhat the same experience described at the start of this thread.
I also have a broadcom wifi in my Inspiron.
My Broadband wifi works fine until about 10 minutes of no activity, then I have to click on my wireless
icon to get DNS going again.
My problem is independent of which Linux I'm using. Not sure if Windows has the same hang-up.
My wifi neighborhood is very crowded, but I have signal strengths in the 60s and 70s and the
neighbors on the same channel are in the 30s or below.
It feels like inactivity somehow kicks the DNS off-line until I act like I'm just getting on-line again.
edit update: Trying 'ignore ipv6'

Re: wireless problem
Huh - no attachment? I'll try once more...How can I see that the attachment really IS uploaded??? Oh I see, unaccepted filename, sorry...Changed!
Re: wireless problem
I got it to work:
Type
To turn off power management, go to
[connection]
wifi.powersave = 3
Change the 3 to a 2 and reboot.
Then run
Source: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... eless-card
Type
iwconfig
and look at the output. You should see the name of your chip-set as well as the whether power management is off or on. If it doesn't say, it is probably off.To turn off power management, go to
/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
and you will see:[connection]
wifi.powersave = 3
Change the 3 to a 2 and reboot.
Then run
iwconfig
and if it worked you should see Power Management:off.Source: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... eless-card
Re: wireless problem
To solve the problem of wireless connection firstly, you should make sure that you are connected to the right wireless network. Secondly, disable the service. You can’t connect/disconnect unless you restart the service. Finally restart the service again and a better wireless connection should be achieved.
