In Linux Mint 18 all you should need to do is

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install linux-firmware
Reboot and you should have linux-firmware 1.157.4 or something that is up to date

Thank you. I already downloaded from:

https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware.git

It worked for LM18 same as your method for 17.3 above. I guess it's either in the kernel or in firmware/ dir.

I'm gonna try change the title for all those googling Atheros QCA6174 + LM 18
Mint 17.3 MATE, kernel 4.11.12

Hi,

Eventhough I'm not using LM right now, on another distro, with 4.9.0 kernel, the latest firmware from kvalo github account didn't work. Luckly I had a previous version of hw3.0 board-2.bin file which worked fine.

Further details:

328980 bytes - board-2.bin
$ md5sum board-2.bin
39b7686f0527bce09263fc66bfc0d32a board-2.bin

I've downloaded these files circa August 13, 2016.

The original firmware (kernel-firmware) installed by the distro together the kernel seems to be version 149.1 (from 2016/11/30).

Hope this help.

Mário
