(Solved) Wireless only works if ethernet connected first

Post by Sweet Suffolk Owl » Mon Feb 20, 2017 5:26 am

Hello,
I have 32 bit Sony VPCM13M1E running linux mint Sarah just updated from Maya. On boot there are no wireless networks shown, they only appear after I have connected with an ethernet cable. The wireless connection takes over and remains stable when I disconnect the cable until I reboot.
I have run inxi-Fxz but don't know how to add it to this post. My terminal capabilities are cut and paste level.
Thank you for any advice
Solved by installing Serena xfce and the wireless works straight away each time. As I had only just installed Sarah (Cinnamon) it was no hardship to change again. Printer set up also was more straightforward.
Thanks.

One way would be to redirect inxi's (de-colorized) output into a file and open this file in a text editor (e.g. medit):

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz -c0 > output.file
medit output.file
Add.: when copying & pasting the file's contents to a post, wrapping it up in code tags would be appreciated
