[RESOLVED] WPA2 Enterprise and Ralink drivers intermittent disconnect.

Post by draconicrose » Tue Feb 28, 2017 12:44 am

Good evening. I have to connect to a wifi network at my school (eduroam), which I have configured manually according to my school's instructions for linux (no certificate). The issue I have is that the wifi does connect, but it keeps disconnecting every few minutes, needing me to turn the wifi off and on several times before it will connect again. IT support told me to install the proprietary driver for my card but I'm unsure how to proceed. I'm reluctant to go there since they've been extremely rude through support tickets.

I'm using Linux Mint 17.3, my card is a Ralink corp. RT5390 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe.

I found this package https://packages.debian.org/jessie/firmware-ralink, but no instructions on how to install it or even any indication that I even should.

Installing kernel version 4.4.0-67 appears to have solved the issue.
