[SOLVED]Cannot access wifi Mint 18.1 Ryzen cpu

Post by kellyman »

Hello everyone, I've installed Mint 18.1 on a new Ryzen build and can only access the internet through a wired connection. Network Connections does not give the option to connect wirelessly. Any advice/help solving this would be appreciated.

inxi -Fxz returns this:

From reading multiple posts and replies about Ryzen here in the forums, your hardware is so new that you will need to install the latest linux kernel in the 4.10 series.

Update Manager > View > Linux kernels - choose the highest number in the 4.10 series . . Once installed you will need a reboot.

If things don't go as planned, no worries, just hold down the Shift key during the next boot-up, and arrow down to choose your original kernel at the Grub menu.
