HP notebook wireless card just works after hibernation [RT3290][Solved]

Post by Zhe »

Hi there.

lets go to the problem: After install Linux mint 18.2 yesterday on my G4 HP notebook, I noticed the wireless card did not worked... just at the installation process.

Just for records, on Ubuntu 16 it worked flawlessly.

I noticed that after the hibernation process I hear a sound and the wireless card comes to life. I think this a bug.

After hibernation it works fine.

Edit: Even when the wireless card does not work, it's recognized by the system.

If I do a inxi -Fxz before hibernation, the result is just equal bellow here.

If someone knows any trick to help me establish wifi on start-up, with no need of hibernation, I would be very thankful.

See ya.

Try

Code: Select all

sudo sed -i 's/wifi.powersave = 3/wifi.powersave = 2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf

Code: Select all

systemctl restart network-manager.service
And see if it works after a reboot

No it doesn't, unfortunately. I did 2 reboots and no wifi selectable, just like the first picture.

By closing the lid and after the system restart from hibernation, it works fine.

Thanks anyway.

Do this

Code: Select all

wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && chmod +x wireless-info
Reboot and when the wireless isn't working

Code: Select all

./wireless-info
Then hibernate so you have wifi and post the contents of the wireless-info.txt file in your /home directory

Not offering any advice just noting that I have had my share of problems with Linux and wifi. I tried loading the latest version of Ubuntu. It would connect to my wifi but the connection wasn't reaching the applications. It seemed easier to me to try Linux Mint Cinnamon instead of slugging through the process of trying to fix it. It worked fine of the Thumb drive so I installed it. And it wouldn't see any kind of wifi. Like our friend in the post it seemed to fix itself after the computer went to sleep. I'll see if I can try your fix later. I'm a noob when it comes to Linux. But I have a fare amount of experience with computers.
