I am trying to figure out how to change/spoof the MAC address on my hardware but I am not having any success. I have tried both macchanger and the edit connections menu and neither seems to work.
Attempting with macchanger: Whenever I try to enter a new mac address, it shows the current mac address is completely unchanged.
Attempting with edit connections menu: The field for Cloned MAC address accepts the input, but after that the machine cannot connect to the router. Only after clearing the field can I go online again.
I tried searching to see if the MAC address might be locked on this model, but I couldn't find any information on that, either.
Does anyone have a solution to this? Either via the OS, or some other possible workaround, like a recommended USB wireless adapter that allows MAC spoofing?

Don't know how it's done, but I do know that the Tails OS uses MAC spoofing. Maybe you could check out their website and get some ideas? Or wander through the source code of whatever they use?
