Ralink RT3060 and RT2800 are not working (no WiFi)

So I upgraded my PC to a Ryzen 5 1600. I had Mint 17.x and when I fist booted into the system everything was working fine. My WiFi worked. The system seemed glitchie in general so I switched to the nvidia-384 driver on. this took an oddly long time and once finished my WiFi stopped working. The system seemed a little off so I did some research and Ryzen doesn't mesh well with the kernel. I've now installed Mint 18.2 and updated the kernel to 4.10.0-38-generic. power management is off I can see my wireless cards and from what I've read they are using the correct driver. It doesn't matter if I have one card, one or the other, I cant get either to work in Mint 18.2. I've been using the cards (in different machines) for the last 5+ years no problems. Both work on my windows side. I can remove a card if that makes things easier. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried the code and it changed the way my usb internet connection is displayed but did not allow my wireless card to operate. I was reading through your script results and started wondering if having a connection set to metered in windows would make a difference. I think I'll log into my window side and remove the wireless connection and see if that does anything. Probably not but I'm at a complete loss on this. I'm still hung up on the fact that everything worked before I installed the Nvidia drivers in my 17.x version.

Reboot
So changing setting in Windows does nothing. I decided to boot from the USB and see if I could get the WiFi to work. I started the install process and when it came to selecting a wireless network the wireless network it offered was my wireless card. Is it possible that something is just mislabeled in a file. It seems my system is displaying my wireless card where it should be displaying wireless networks.

I keep trying to fix this. I've realized the card doesn't show up in ifconfig, but does in iwconfig. I can also log into an old mint 14 install I have on the drive and the wifi works fine. I've realize that in mint 14 the WiFi is labled wlan0. So I check my mint 17 install and when I go to sys/class/net/ their isn't a folder for my wireless. In mint 18.2 to folder is labled wlp5s4. Is is possible the driver its self is looking in the wrong location, ie looking for a wlan0 file instead of the wlp5s4 file? Any help is appreciated.

I'm not apposed to buying a newer card that also has bluetooth as I would like to use bluetooth to connect my phone and laptop from time to time. But I worry a new card will not fix the problem here. I'm looking at the ASUS PCE-AC55BT card atm.

I didn't see any sign of power management being enabled for wifi but try this anyhow

Thanks for the reply Jeremy, I turned power management when I started trouble shooting in the beginning. I tried it anyway but to no avail. I've downloaded a separate driver and will attempt to install and use that. Is there a reason my wireless card doesn't show up when I run ifconfig?

I am not sure what is going on unless it might be an issue with the Linux module for your wifi cards and wireless-N mode
