wifi problems with sonya

Postby kristijonas » Thu Nov 23, 2017 11:50 am

Hi all, I've just installed the latest version of linux mint sonya on a new pavilion laptop and there seems to be no way to connect to wifi, wired network works fine. Any suggestions? I'm a relatively new linux user.

rfkill list all:
hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

and that's all;

lspci:

02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device d723

any help much appreciated!

Unfortunately that device cannot be used in Linux as the manufacturer has not released the source code to the kernel developer yet. It is expected by the end of the year. It will likely show up at www.github.com/lwfinger somewhere

Until then, buy a USB wifi device that actually works on plugin to a linux box.

I prefer this one.
All things go better with Mint. Mint julep, mint jelly, mint gum, candy mints, pillow mints, peppermint, chocolate mints, spearmint,....
