Unable to connect to wi-fi

Hello,
I have been using Wi-fi on Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.3 since 4 days. But now I am no longer able to connect to wi-fi.

All I can think was, I had applied updates which may have caused this. Is there any way to uninstall updates , say last 7 days .

Please find the output. The funny part is itwi-fi worked for 4 5 days and then stopped working. There is no problem with the wi fi as such because my phone connects to it.

Try if it helps when you upgrade your kernel to the latest of the 4.10 series. Afterwards, reboot.

I did that but no joy.
I feel I had updated Linux firmware which may have got me in the problem. Is there any way to roll back to the previous version of the firmware?

Yes, that's a potential candidate for this trouble...

Try this:

Launch Synaptic - panel: use the Search button (not the buggy quick search field) and let it search for linux-firmware

Then in the panel, click Package - Force version...

Select 1.157 (xenial) and install it over 1.157.14 (xenial-updates).

Then reboot.

I thank Pjotr for the excellent how to. But trying out the procedure didn't improve things.
It worked for 4 days and later stopped working. Only change I made to the system is to apply patches.

I tried that without any effect. As I said that wi-fi worked for 4 days and then stopped working.During the time I just applied updates of level 2 and 3. My feeling is that I have to undo what I did during these days and there should be no necessity for additional kernel ,as the original one worked wit wi-fi.

I have this exact same issue. Applied level 2 and 3 updates, WiFi worked for 3 or 4 days then nothing. Please update here if you find any way to make this work.

Sylvia 18.3 Two different laptops, Dell Inspiron and Fujitsu Lifebook, Dell upgraded from 18.2 and Fujitsu Lifebook fresh install. After suspend, WiFi option disappeared from network, have to reboot to remedy issue, Dell laptop on firmware 4.13.0-19 and Lifebook on 4.15.0-041500rc1. Anyone else out there with same issue?

Ralink MT7601U working perfectly as plug and play in linuxmint 18.3 cinnamon 64 bit after upgrading from linux mint 17.
kindly verify from live boot dvd/usb prior to upgrade.
