Wi-fi 49% for Kernel 4.14.18 & 90% for kernel 4.9.80.79

Hello,
wi-fi signal strength is different for 2 kernels as per the subject line of this post. Is there any way to get it to 90% for kernel version 4.14.18?
I wanted to switch to 4.14 series as it is LTS.

To figure that out you would need to do kernel bisects and commit bisects and that could take quite a while. I would just use the 4.4.0 series kernels from the repos
