(Solved) NordVPN IPv6 persistent leaks

Post by kb2qqm »

<t>I just purchased NordVPN Service for all my different computers. <br/>
I am running Linux Mint 18.3 32bit on an older Dell Vostros220 Machine. I got the DNS leaks fixed through “Bind9”, but I was leaking IPv6 data when I did (ipleak.net) tests. NordVPN over chat sent me this link:
https://support.nordvpn.com/#/Connectiv ... -Linux.htm

Everything works now and I’m not leaking anything. NordVPN has been super fast to respond and they helped get me up and going. Love it so far.

You can decrease the risk of a leak further by editing the Nord opvn files and adding block-outside-dns anywhere where the options are listed. For example:

Code: Select all

...
ping-timer-rem
reneg-sec 0
explicit-exit-notify 3
block-outside-dns
remote-cert-tls server

#mute 10000
auth-user-pass

comp-lzo
...

Thank you. I appreciate the info. I’m a Linux noob. 😊

--block-outside-dns is a Windows only option.
See Manual 2.4:

I gloomily came to the ironic conclusion that if you take a highly intelligent person and give them the best possible, elite education, then you will most likely wind up with an academic who is completely impervious to reality.

Thanks, did not know
Probably someone did not test before advising.
