Hi,
Recently upgraded LM18.3 Serena to v4.13.0-36 of the kernel and the rtl8812au driver https://github.com/diederikdehaas/rtl8812AU v 4.3.14 wouldn't install with compiler errors for the kernel signal functions. Tried various fixes which didn't work.
Then tried https://github.com/gordboy/rtl8812au v 5.2.20 of the rtl8812audriver. This installed but was not functioning and would not come out of the "device not ready" state. I had to add the vendor id and device id to /.../os_dep/linux/usb_intfc.c which allowd the driver to load when the adadter was plugged in, but the interface would not come up. I wnt to go back and sort this out asIws learning a lot about wirless neworking andconfiguring it while trying to sort it out.
I then found a reference to https://github.com/zebulon2/rtl8812au working on v4.13+. Tried it and it installs and works like a bought one. Hope this helps someone else.

One additional hassle I came across after a kernel update to 4.13.37 was that the driver was installed and running. iwconfig listed the USB adapter with a generic wlxafgdh... type network interface name. I found some posts (links below) on the ubuntu forums which listed changes to the naming of devices https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Softwa ... faceNames/. Something in my setup likes wlan0 as the device name (not sure whether it is the device driver or something else) and while the device driver is there and wifi can be enabled in the network manager no network connections showed up using the predictable network interface name. Creating the following

and then rebooting fixed the problem for me and the wifi came up and connected to my wireless LAN.link sudo ln -s /dev/null /etc/udev/rules.d/80-net-setup-link.rules
