REALTEK wifi dongle not supported in 4.4.0-116, 4.10 & 4.13 kernels

Post by mint4all »

Greetings!

I am running LM18.3-XFCE (64-bit, fresh built with LM18, then upgraded to 18.1; 18.2; 18.3). The driver used for my 300mbs Realtek Wifi-Dongle, RTL8192EU, worked just fine under the 4.4.0 kernels up to 4.4.0-112. (Note: to get that dongle to work at all when i installed LM18, i followed your excellent how-to instructions @ https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... /reserve-7 ).

Alas, beginning with the more-recent kernel updates to 4.4.0-116 & 4.10.0-38, the kernel-build would not recognize the RTL8192EU driver, but instead bind the generic RTL8XXXU driver which -- at best -- yields a 1mbs connection and fails to connect 95% of the time. All attempts to re-install the RTL8192EU driver under the new kernels fail. The only way to get my wifi connection back is to re-boot with the 4.4.0-112 kernel.

Any ideas how i can resolve my problem: getting the correct driver, RTL8192EU, working on the newer kernels? Thanks a lot!
