Conflict bluetooth / Wifi

Post by Guillaumegds »

Hi guys,
I'm a french beginner on linux.
I bought a bluetooth headset but when I connect it, I have a lot of trouble with wifi connection ... So If I listen local music, no problem but on youtube, it works but I can't open a new web page (DNS probe errors or laaaaag)
So bluetooth works alone....wifi too ! but not together !
My laptop is a recent asus X705UA
Eventually can I disable integrated bluetooth and plug a bluetooth dongle ?
Thanks very much to helpers !!
On Asus website, in support section, they propose 3 Bluetooth drivers...Intel, Qualcomm & Realtek (only for Windows).

(No problem with the headset on my big computer with a dongle and the same mint 18.3)

You could try changing your WiFi channel and see if you will get a better connection. And if you could change to a 5 GHz WiFi channel, even better.

WiFi and Bluetooth are on nearly the same frequency. ( in the 2.5 gHz band )

the radio in the adapter can do one connection, but not both at the same time ( usually )
really depends on the engineer's battle with the Finance Officer at the Factory. They give him xxx amount of $$$ and do the best you can. So, he makes it work on both, but not at the same time.
so you can buy a new WiFi/Bluetooth adapter for $14.95 ea. as I did, but it will only do one at a time.

When I have my Bluetooth headset on, and walk by the microwave oven in our kitchen, the BT headset goes away and drops connection. ( same frequency band problem )

Hi guys !
Thanks for your response.
I'm in a school with 35 students....Everyone with linux...connected on the same WIfi.... 6/8 of them use their bluetooth headset on Youtube and it works !
I have certainely a conflict with linux driver. Can't find a way to install manufacturer drivers....
With a dongle I pluged it but it's the integrated bluetooth that launch....
I found people on forums who had wifi problem with this Realtek card...There is a way....But I can't resolve it ...

It is an issue with bluetooth/wifi coexistence but there is no real fix for your wifi/bt combo that I know of. I do know how to disable the internal bluetooth if you want to see if a dongle will do any better. Post results for lsusb

Do

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install gksu
gksu xed /etc/udev/rules.d/81-bluetooth-hci.rules
Add this as one line

Code: Select all

SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="13d3", ATTRS{idProduct}=="3496", ATTR{authorized}="0"
Save, exit text editor, and reboot
