Issues with connection to internet
Hello,
Yesterday I installed Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 3.4.3 64bit, Kernel 4.13.0-38-generic on a MacBook Air 4.1, Intel Core i5 2467M, "Mid-2011", RAM 2GB, 1333 MHz DaDR3, VRAM 256 MB, Intel HD Graphics 3000 288 MB, Memory 1.8GiB.
At first I was able to update and surf on the internet.
But after a short while, this did not work anymore most of the time, even tough in "Network" it shows an active wireless connection, and even tough other devices are working normally with the same router at the same time.
The Update Manager shows sometimes that it is unable to check for updates.
The internet access with the browser and of the Update Manager also seem to work and not work at the same time as well as at different times.
And apparently not related to this, the network connection goes off and on occasionally.
And again no such issues with other devices with the same router at the same time.
When I'm occasionally able to access the internet, it works usually much slower than on other devices.
Any help would be appreciated very much!

Re: Issues with connection to internet
The issue might be related to the Network Manager's power-saving feature. In order to find out if the feature is enabled, run the following in a terminal:
If it shows
Reboot your machine and see if the problem with intermittent connectivity is gone.
Hope this helps.
Code: Select all
cat /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
wifi.powersave = 3
, that means the power save is enabled. Run then the following command in order to change the value to 2 which will disable the feature:
Code: Select all
sudo sed -i 's/3/2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/*
Hope this helps.

Sorry but what are code tags?deepakdeshp wrote: ⤴Fri Apr 20, 2018 2:16 pm Please post results ofin code tags.Code: Select all

The results are quite extensive - so I attached a photo.
The command "... networking restart" does not help.

It shows: "No such file or directory".Marziano wrote: ⤴Fri Apr 20, 2018 2:36 pm The issue might be related to the Network Manager's power-saving feature. In order to find out if the feature is enabled, run the following in a terminal:If it showsCode: Select all

Code tags are beside underline when you answer the message. Copy paste the output of inxi command. Photo isn't readable.

[Solved] Issues with connection to internet

Really amazing! - This works like a charm for my device too! Here's what worked for me with a Macbook Pro I have. It worked with both Mint 17.3 and Mint 18. The Broadcom WiFi card is supported but you have to use the driver. Open the Menu > Administration > Driver Manager. You'll have to input your password. Wait for the cache update to take place. It will fail if you don't have a wired connection - ignore it. Look for the Broadcom driver that is recommended. Select it and click Apply Changes. You should not have to reboot. Click the Wireless applet in the panel and you should see the available wireless networks. Make your connection.
Many thanks to TooMuchTime!
