bcmwl-kernel-source and 4.15 kernel [Solved]

Post by kc1di »

bcmwl-kernel-source (wl driver for some broadcom cards) will not build against 4.15.0-15 kernel. It does build with 4.15 and 4.16 kernels in ubuntu though so not sure what the difference may be? anyone got 4.15.0-15 to work with WL drivers in mint?

If you are using Ubuntu 18.04, the bionic repos have a version patched for that kernel. I wouldn't expect to see that version in xenial repos until August

thanks JeremyB,
Had just noticed that 4.15 was available in Mint 18.3 and gave it a try. but not go with this wireless card so reverted back to 4.13.
It's nothing critical since everything works with 4.13. Was just curious :)

It does work on 18.04 ubuntu , kubuntu , etc and manjaro with 4.16.
will most likely be fixed for Mint 19 :)

Dave

If you want the wifi to work with LM18 and 4.15, download from https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/bcmwl-kernel-source
LM 19 will be fine as it will use the bionic repos
