Wifi suddenly limited to 50 Ko/s !!!

Post by Jonafen » Tue May 15, 2018 2:40 am

Hello to the Community,
I have an issue that's been bugging me on for a while.

I use Linux Mint on my desktop PC with a wifi dongle NETGEAR N300 (model : WNA3100M) and it has worked perfectly fine for months.
But since last week (maybe because of some kernel update, I don't really know) my connexion speed has dropped down and never gets over 50 Ko/s... Grrrr !
Just enough to read mails and display some webpages but no more downloads at all.

I've seen lots of topics over the issue of compatibility between Linux and my NETGEAR wifi dongle :
- Some people recommend to update the system and restart... Has not worked for me !
- Some people recommend to install diswrapper so as to use Windows drivers instead... I would hate to go that way !
- Some people recommend to use commands such as 'sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1'... Has not worked for me !

But my real question holds as follow : Why in the world my wifi has worked perfectly fine for months and gets suddenly limited to 50 Ko/s at the max ?
