wifi not working LM 18 xfce [solved]

Post by dome77 »

Our wifi went down today. I have attempted to revert to a previous kernel but have not been successful. Pressing ESC to access the GRUB takes me to a page with many commands suggested. I don't know how to proceed. Here is an overview of my system.

Hello, dome77.

Code: Select all

wally@wally-Satellite-S55-A ~ $ rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: yes
wally@wally-Satellite-S55-A ~ $
The last line but one reads Hard blocked: yes This means that you must have disabled the wifi adapter e.g. by pressing the <Fn><Antennae> keyboard shorcut, which will be available on most notebooks. It acts as a toggle, pressing it repeatedly will switch from on to off, back to on and so on.
So there should be no need to revert to any older kernel. Switching back on the wifi adapter hardware should be sufficient.

Regards,
Karl
