The Library changed its' color printer.
Brother HL-L8350CDW
downloaded driver & installed
says already installed
removed old driver
reinstalled & at the end of the process says it is already installed
I checked the package manager and it is installed - hll8350cdw
why gdebi-gtk says it is already installed...
system-config-printer
printer does not show in list
I am at a loss...
This is going to end up in a terminal doing who knows what...

Re: Wireless Printing
Turns out we needed the CUPS driver too...
Got it installed, shows up in system-config-printer but...
Tried printing a test page but the data sent to the printer is invalid.

Re: Wireless Printing
Looking like a driver issue - Brother's problem.
Or something with the network driver - Library System Administrator problem.
Right now no one knows what is going on...
Typical day in the wurld of computing.

Re: Wireless Printing
Did you download the driver from Brother website here:
http://support.brother.com/g/b/download ... _as&os=128
I recently bought a Brother MFC-J5830DW and found that their support of Linux is the best.

Re: Wireless Printing
so Caltrop; sorry to hear of your troubles;
you mention that the Library had changed its color printer to this Brother ;
please can you help us understand how things are set up:
do open a terminal: hold down the control and alt and t buttons all at once .... then type .. hit the ENTER key ...... that is asking the info part of lp (linux printing) on your system to give info and the v means verbose so means "tell it all" and then copy what you get; paste it back here: if you select the text and use control and shift and c in the terminal; (instead of just control and c as in most other programs)
heck, if you are on a roll ...... also do and give that to use as well .......
