Lost WIFI

Two days after updating to LM19 WIFI has disappeared.

Don't you just love "new kernels" ?

Every time, a new kernel comes along, and I let it be installed, my WiFi is deleted totally.
Can go back to the previous kernel and WiFi works, new kernel never, ever, supports a MediaTek MT7630E WiFi adapter.

I didn't install the new kernel update is showing, I'm currently running 4.15.0-23 that came with LM19. The laptop gone through multiple start ups since the update but this is the first time wifi vanished.

Check BIOS settings to see if wifi/WLAN is enabled, I know if I disable wifi/WLAN in the BIOS on my Lenovo it disappears from lspci results. From what I see from the bluetooth chip ID is that you must have one of the QCA6*** or QCA9*** chipsets that use the ath10k_pci kernel module

I would shut the laptop down, remove power cord and battery, remove bottom cover, then remove wifi card and reinsert it. Put it back together and boot

I powered down and removed the battery (opening the case is a step too far). I've just everything back together and the WIFI is now working any ideas on what wrong?

By moving it around you might have fixed an issue between the card and motherboard slot connection

I found instructions. The Wifi card looked ok, I did notice a LOT of dust in the fan so a cleaned that out while I had the case open. I was wondering if this was a heat build up problem the inxi report above showed a temp of 61.9c uptime 20 mins, now 44.4c uptime 13mins

I lost WiFi after upgrading to Mint 19 Mate on my Dell Studio Hybrid. Tried several fixes to no avail. Finally I hooked up a WiFi dongle and the system recognized it. Did updates and then checked drivers. It said Broadcom was not working. Installed the recommended Broadcom driver and my internal WiFi came up. Now everything is working. Just thought I would share this.

Since cleaning the fan I've had no further problems with the WIFI card disappearing. The Ath10k firmware crashing on hibernation is another thread :roll:
