Router as cashe

Hey so comcast smacked me with some nasty overages over the past couple months and i ended up buying a new router that can track usage. in my research to find ways of curbing use. i found that if you increase your browser cashe less data is transered next time you view that site. my new router a netgear nighthawk can read from an external drive for media, i was wondering if there was a way of setting it up as a cashe for the houses internet use. is there a thrid party firmware that i could install, or do i need to actually go through the time and expense of setting up a server.
