2nd CPU: Connect WIFI On Lenovo

Post by Nitroster »

My Lenovo Computer was recently switched to Linux Mint. Love the platform! But sadly, wireless connection is not working! This is the 2nd Computer due to my last post viewtopic.php?t=270975 of which I tried similar steps (it didn't work for this computer).

Here is extra info on this computer (terminal):
(inxi -Fxz) https://gyazo.com/4a8b4130ca6fec54b34ac56fb4934c09
(sudo rfkill list all) https://gyazo.com/be95cb72e2b53da9329b73a1b44bed50

All help much appreciated. Will Stay Active In These Forums, Thank You Everyone!

Reboot and see if wifi works

Thanks for the reply!! It did not work but I got the following...
After doing what was said...

And doing it again after restart...

It’s important to note that the reboot got stuck so I had to hold down the power button and put it back on before doing the 2nd image.

Reason: [rimg] is such a useful tag when inserting resized image previews! - But actually text from terminal windows can simply be marked and pasted into posts as text. No need for screenshots or even photographs taken with your smartphone.

Sorry this did not work :(
Know that when i hit the “no connection” icon on the bottom right, and i click “wireless” to “o” for on, it automatically switches back to “I” for off. Going to “Network” settings, i can click Wi-Fi on, but it'll do nothing and when i reopen this same “Network” settings, its automatically switched off.
Thanks for the reply! I look forward to solutions!!

ty for extra help
Also note that my screen is REALLY tiny, so I am unable to select the settings for how I want my updates to be installed. So the updates have never been done. I tried everything from making the window bigger to smaller, and still couldn't click the option at the bottom of the window allowing me to proceed (it was out of reach).

I really don't know as the wifi is hard blocked, sometimes it is a switch on the computer to enable wifi, it might be a setting in BIOS. Sometimes resetting BIOS to defaults will fix or powering off, removing battery and power cord, then holding the power button might reset. And if that doesn't work, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzAKcmlaH1M or you could remove the internal card and use a USB device

There is a password blocking me from the BIOS, wow! I wouldn't know what that password is. However, there is a switch on the computer by using the FN key and F5, but it doesn't do anything. I remember my previous computer had a switch and it was fixed with the package installation. This must be different. Thanks for responses and trying your best! Respect friend :)

Final Question: How can I click my update preferences since the window is too big for the screen?

Broadcom BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter

Download drivers:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/r ... _amd64.deb

Double-click .deb file, then reboot.
Good luck.

Sorry it did not work :(
So to follow up previously... (refer to before) how can I use update settings with the small screen?
and how can I get into the BIOS with forgotten password?

Thanks for the responses!!
