LM19 use as hot spot, stuck on authenticating

Post by richard-g8jvm »

Hi
LM19, CPU:AMD5 2400G, ASUS ROG Strix B450-I motherboard, looks like an integrated Intel shipset for LAN and Wifi,
its not specified in the documentation I can find.
lspci shows :-

Code: Select all

03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation I211 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03)
04:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device b822

richard@richard-MS-7A40:/proc$ lsmod|grep 822
r8822be 851968 0
mac80211 798720 1 r8822be
cfg80211 659456 2 mac80211,r8822be
I'm guessing the r8822be is the realtek module , ?

The WIFI is seeing all the networks around , including mine , and that is connected on the LAN.
the wifi is now set up as a Hotspot.
My phone can see it , so its transmitting OK , as its reporting other networks the receiver looks OK, and that would indicate the correct modules are loaded and working.
But if I try to connect my phone all I can see on the phone is "authenticating"

Code: Select all

wlp4s0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        inet 10.42.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 10.42.0.255
        inet6 fe80::fd7b:b20e:5f66:2ca5  prefixlen 64  scopeid 0x20<link>
        ether 70:c9:4e:84:21:ed txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet)
        RX packets 70 bytes 9450 (9.4 KB)
        RX errors 0 dropped 18 overruns 0 frame 0
        TX packets 128 bytes 17356 (17.3 KB)
        TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0

I'd like to be able to change the channel its using, I'm using Ch3 and my nieghbour has her network on Ch2,
The s/w has decided to put my hot spot on Ch2, when the top end of the band is clear.
Is there anyway of changing the channel its using ? , I'd like to move it up to 5GHz as well, the boards wifi adaptor is capable of both bands.
Especially as I can transmit 150W in to high gain antennas on 2.3GHz, so any local wifi on 2.4 GHz gets hammered by high signal levels
putting the wifi on a clear channel would eliminate co-channel or adjacent channel blocking.
