Wifi Problems, Dell Latitude,Qualcomm

Post by trope » Tue Sep 11, 2018 3:35 pm

New install of Mint 19. I can see the Wifi network and have excellent strength, will show that it is connected, but no pages load. I reboot the computer and it works. Also frequent disconnects and reconnects. In addition, I can only connect to a 2.4 ghz network, it will not connect at all to a 5 ghz network for some reason.

Dell latitude e6440, mint 19, 64 bit, MATE. Some output from commands I found on this forum:

Code: Select all

$ inxi -Nn

Also, I had a lot of problems a few years ago when I was using an older dell latitude and Mint 17.1, which I solved with the help of the excellent ppl on this forum, but it was a different model latitude, Broadcom, not Qualcomm, and a different version of Mint, so I am not sure if it is relevant:

See https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php ... st13614520 and make any changes that are needed. The Atheros AR9485 is not capable of 5GHz

Still having the same issue. I ran the first command on the page, all of the middle settings were already set, and I changed the settings on the last instuction. What would be the next step?

If there are commands to be run, should I run them when I have a normal connection or when I am disconnected?

The problem seems to occur after the laptop wakes up from "Suspend". Wifi shows excellent connection but no pages load. Rebooting the computer solves it.

Could I not have the best driver for linux?

Since it is a new install of the latest version of Mint, I suppose the firmware should all be correct?

See the wireless script link in my signature and post results. I have the same wifi in a Lenovo and it doesn't have the issues you have with yours
