no wifi mint 19 [SOLVED]

Post by BobMacall »

I just tried Mint 19 live but there is no wifi. Connections app shows only wired connection available.
What's the trick to fix? (Wifi works fine in Mint 17, before kernel upgrade.)

See the wireless script link in my signature and post results. It doesn't matter to me what version the results are from

If you can connect with ethernet in LM 19

Code: Select all

sudo apt update && sudo apt install bcmwl-kernel-source
Reboot

Unfortunately, I can't connect with Mint 19, just using Mint 17. Is it possible to download to flash drive and then install?
Thanks,
Bob

Boot into LM 19 then insert the DVD/USB you installed from and then see if you can install the Broadcom Proprietary module in the Driver Manager

Using the live version, I opened driver manager and selected the broadcom driver. It installed and now I have wifi!!
Thanks Jeremy! Now I can install to the hard drive.
