Wifi weak signals with RTL8723BE since kernel 4.15.0-33

Hi, I can confirm that changing the kernel to 4.15.0.32 (instead of 4.15.0.33) resolved the issue on my HP laptop.
Note: I have to use modprob option ant_sel=2 on my HP 17-by055ng.

You could take my word for it. You could look at the bug report, see my comment #18 and see comment #21 about what was changed for the test kernel that worked for people. An alternative to not updating kernels is to use https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new as that doesn't have the issue but you will need to disable Secure Boot

Also my rtl8723be works fine with the 4.18 series and every other kernel I used it with so far. /shrug

Nope. Mine's an Asus from last year.

I'm not sure why you split this off but if this is supposed to be a guide or PSA post for HP laptops maybe indicate that in the subject line so nobody else gets confused.

About 3 years ago HP started using just one antenna wire on the rtl8723be wifi cards, and now they are doing the same with the rtl8723de cards
