Have good wifi, but one Linux machine can't connect

Post by Stormkorp »

I have a good wifi connection running.
Windows machines picks it up and so does all the family's mobile phones.

I have one stationary computer and one laptop running Cinnamon 19/Tara.
The laptop connects well without problems, but the stationary doesn't.

In the details section the signal strength usually shows 'good'.
Percentage usually ranges from 60-85%,
I can "officially" connect.
Connected it says, but I have never managed so reach any website.

After some time "connected" a box saying 'network activation failed' pops up in the top right corner.
Not that it makes any difference, but then I'm "officially" disconnected.
It never automatically tries to connect again after this has occurred.

The only way for me to reconnect is to ̈́Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi network" and then connect from there.
On the list I find an option with my connection name with the word 'auto' in front.
I can connect from there, but it's as above. i.e. it says it's connected but it's not.
