WiFi Dashcam Connection Possible for Viewing / Recording?

Post by Uncle Tim »

I recently bought a car dashcam and noticed it has a WiFi mode. It even appears on the list of WiFi devices on my Mint 18.3 OS. I would like to know if there is a way to "open" its viewer in Mint -- in Cheese, VLC Player, etc., for viewing / recording. Is there a way to do this?

Thank you.

What is the make/model of your dash cam?

Bring it in and get it to connect to the same local network your PC is on, and see if it shows up in Nemo as a network device.

It's a Yi CarCam FF720D, and it shows up on the list of wireless devices. Because of that I was wondering if it's possible to view it from the computer.

It would appear that the wireless feature is there to connect to IOS and Android apps on mobile devices. Don't think it will relay generically to your computer.

So it only shows as an available wireless device--does not show up in Nemo under Networks?

I would just get a simple microSD-USB adapter and download/view the videos that way.
