Hi all,
guess this is a quite common problem but after searching and trying all solutions within this Form nothing helped me out. My Wireless adapter is still down, doesn't matter what I try. My Laptop is a LG S1. There is no hardware switch, just a combination of FN + F6 to turn the WLAN on. Since this combination seems not to work under Linux I de-hardblocked the WLAN via
sudo rmmod -f iwl3945
sudo rfkill unblock all
sudo modprobe iwl3945
but still it say's to $ iwlist scan:
lo Interface doesn't support scanning.
enp2s0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
wlp5s0 Failed to read scan data : Network is down
and to $ ifconfig wlp5s0 up:
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Vorgang ist nicht möglich wegen RF-kill

Re: PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network down
Did you swap wifi cards while the laptop was power on?
Re: PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network down
I know it's been a while but I stumbled upon your post because I was experiencing the same problem with this wireless card. Found a solution in an older post.
You have to deactivate N-mode:
And disable power save (which I think you already have):
That seems to have done the trick for me.
You have to deactivate N-mode:
Code: Select all
echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
sudo modprobe -rfv iwlwifi
sudo modprobe -v iwlwifi
Code: Select all
sudo iw dev wlp5s0 set power_save off
