New ASUS wifi adapter

Post by WA3ERQ » Wed Oct 31, 2018 9:11 am

I followed the instructions on another post about installing the driver for an ASUS wifi adapter. Unfortunately, I don't know what to do after that. I'm VERY new to Linux and was hoping that the system would recognize the adapter after installing it.

The adapter is ASUS USB-AC53 Nano Dual-band. I have the correct USB ports available to use this adapter.

Thanks for the help.

the instructions for setting WiFi adapters is very specific to the model of the adapter.

e.g., my ASUS uses a MT7630e and if you tried to follow along with any of my threads,
I doubt it will work at all for your adapter as it is a different manufacturer.

Code: Select all

sudo apt install git build-essential dkms
git clone
sudo dkms add rtl88x2BU
sudo dkms install rtl88x2bu/5.2.4
Reboot and check BIOS/UEFI settings to see if Secure Boot is disabled
