Re: wifi not activated
Hello ET59LM,
you are using LM 17 which is not supported anymore. You should upgrade to LM 18 or freshly install it. Or even better try it with the actual 19.2. If you want, you can show your system overview for better advises:
(with the </> button above the text box, you could put the output in a codeblock)
You seem to have a dual boot, so maybe this tip can help you to get wifi working again:

I would like to reinstall freshly a new LTS version, while keeping present dual boot with widows 7
Do you recommand a version and accordingly a safe procedure?

Re: wifi not activated
Hello ET59LM,
first I have to correct my statement briefly. The BCM4313 802.11bgn (ID 14e4:4727) can also run with the wl driver.
Your CPU can run a 64-bit system, BUT with 1 GB you have very less Memory (RAM). That is the minimum requirement but it is no comfortable use with that. For a comfortable use Linux Mint writes 2 GB. I've searched a little bit and found your service manual (you can download it, because it's always good to have it offline). I don't know exactly, but your maximum RAM could be 2 GB. You should think about an RAM upgrade before a fresh install. But you could upgrade to LM 18.x 'til then.

Re: wifi not activated
First things first, 17.3 is no longer supported. Some machines can adequately run Mint 17.3 XFCE on 1GB, others won't. If your motherboard has another memory slot available, I'd add another 1GB stick.
If you have found the solution to your initial post, please open your original post, click on the pencil, and add (Solved) to the Subject, it helps other users looking for help, and keeps the forum clean.
Re: wifi not activated
Otherwise which Linux would be more appropriated for that machine?

Hello ET59LM,
the output shows, that you have to banks for RAM modules and one is empty. So it is possible to set in another 1 GB module. Look for example in ebay for:

Maybe you find it (probably used). I will have a look, too. As said above, meanwhile you could upgrade to LM 18. Have you thought about it?Kingston 1GB SO-DIMM DDR3 666
Re: wifi not activated
not very enthusiastic about a hardware change, rether for a fresh installation of 18 version. Wher could I find a clear tuto thereabout. I would like to keep the present arrangement: same size of partitions, dual boot with windows 7, installation of the new Linux distro without uninstalling Windows.
Re: wifi not activated
Hello ET59LM,
with your actual system, you can install Linux Mint XFCE 18.1 in your dual boot. You should read the following turorial/how-to:
https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... e-old.html
Because you have an existing dual boot, you can take the partitions as they are and install the new LM on the partition of LM 17.3. As written above, your CPU is able to run 64 bit, so you can take that version, too, but of course also the 32 bit as you have now. If you want to upgrade to 18.2 or 18.3 later, you should make an RAM upgrade before, because it is needed to run comfortable. LM 18 is supported until 2021.
