Mint 19.1 (w/ Cinnamon) is not recognizing my wireless card

Hello, I recently built a new computer and dual booted Windows 10 and Mint 19.1 with Cinnamon. Everything is going well except that Mint (both my actual partition and liveUSBs) will not recognize my wireless card. I believe the drivers are not being loaded properly as I have verified that they are located in /lib/firmware

some info to help

Same problem here. If it helps anybody, it worked out of the box for the Ubuntu 18 LTS.

However, upgrading kernel to version 4.18 fixed it.

Hello, nsandersen.

Great. We are looking forward to reading your inxi -Fxz report, created on Ubuntu 18 LTS, where wifi works. :D
Will give us something to compare to.
However, upgrading kernel to version 4.18 fixed it.
Even better. We are looking forward to reading your inxi -Fxz report, created on Mint 19.1, where wifi now works, too. :D

Hm. CpnLag's machine uses Kernel: 4.18.5-041805-generic already. :? (Not a Ubuntu provided kernel, telling from the version string?!)

The "Network" section in CpnLag's inxi report somehow reminds me of a very similar "Network" section in another thread: Wifi Unavailable.
In that thread, if I understood it right, the root cause had been that wifi had been switched off inside the BIOS.

Regards,
Karl

Updating to 19.1 and upgrading the kernel to 4.18 did not fix mine. It looks like the driver is not loading.

Network: Device-1: Intel Wireless-AC 9560 [Jefferson Peak] driver: N/A port: 5000 bus ID: 00:14.3

adam@AJB-Legion:~$ iwconfig
enp7s0 no wireless extensions.

lo no wireless extensions.

adam@AJB-Legion:~$ rfkill list all

Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

There is no hardware switch and it's enabled in the BIOS / UEFI. It was working fine until a few days ago. Any tips on manually installing the driver?

I manually installed the firmware file in /lib/firmware and now the driver shows loaded after a reboot, but still no wireless interface in network connections.

Device-1: Intel Wireless-AC 9560 [Jefferson Peak] driver: iwlwifi v: kernel port: 5000

adam@AJB-Legion:~$ iwconfig
enp7s0 no wireless extensions.

lo no wireless extensions.

I updated the kernel again, but still no joy.
