At the moment I can only use Ethernet and its really annoying. I'm running a dual boot on my pc with windows 10 and Linux and my wifi works on that. I just cant seem to get my laptop to work properly. I had issues with wifi when I had windows 10 on my laptop so i switched to Linux and if this doesnt work i cant think of anything else. Havent used Linux in about 8 years. I originally used Ubuntu.

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- Copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.

Do the same with the following four commands:

Code: Select all

rfkill list all

Code: Select all

iwconfig

Code: Select all

lsusb

Code: Select all

lspci

No WiFi chipset in sight.... Since you've been executing some unknown commands "late at night", which may well have rendered your system unpredictable, boot from the Mint DVD (or the Mint USB stick) into a live session and repeat the commands I gave you. Post the output of those as well.

Still no WiFi chipset to be seen.... Strange. Your WiFi chipset may have died; re-installing Mint won't solve that.

Open the laptop case and check whether the WiFi card is firmly settled in its slot.
