LM 19.1 MATE 64bit - How to remove wifi driver properly?

Post by Centauri39 » Fri Jul 12, 2019 4:59 pm

I tried several rtl8812au wifi drivers for my TP-Link adapter, type "TP-Link - Archer T4U, AC1300".
It has this ID:
2357:010d

To clean up everything, I did

Code: Select all

locate rtl8812
and removed everything I found, except this one

Code: Select all

/lib/firmware/rtl_bt/rtl8812ae_fw.bin
because this seems to be a BT driver.

After rebooting Mint, I did the locate command again and still found these locations

Code: Select all

/lib/modules/4.18.0-25-generic/kernel/drivers/net/rtl8812au.ko
/usr/src/rtl8812au-4.3.14
/var/cache/apt/archives/rtl8812au-dkms_4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg-0ubuntu8_all.deb
/var/lib/dkms/rtl8812au
I looked into these folders and none of the file was inside.
So why does the locate command find these files, even they are actually not present anymore?

How do I clean up this mess, please?
