[Solved]wireless usb dongle

Post by missmoondog » Sun Jul 28, 2019 8:28 am

don't know if this really belongs here or the hardware section, but here goes.

just wondering what anyone might recommend for a good wireless usb dongle that works with linux? when ever i search for one, the results description say they do but when i actually go look at the device at say amazon, the actual description says it does not support linux!

thank you

With all laptops and many desktops shipped with integrated wifi, not as much use for wifi dongles now. I do have a few wifi dongles for use on desktops and to upgrade laptop wifi, to improve range and/or faster connections.

Out of curiosity, which wifi dongle is this? A lot of Amazon product descriptions are incorrect.

I have a
Panda Wireless PAU06 300Mbps Wireless N USB Adapter - w/High Gain Antenna - Win XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10, Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, CentOS, Kali Linux and Raspbian

works with mint/ubuntu and manjaro without any fiddling.

Edit: and it's been working for at least two years.
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] if/when it is solved!
Your data and OS are backed up....right?

Panda Panda Panda. :D

Panda Wireless Usb Wifi adapters have a stellar good reputation on this forum. When nothing seems to work, a Panda Wireless Usb Wifi adapter will work. I advice Panda to all my friends and family. Works out of the box.

My advice: don't attach any importance to the name on the casing. It's the WiFi chipset inside that matters, and those chipsets come from just a couple of manufacturers, like Broadcom, Intel, Ralink and Realtek. Panda is just a casing brander.
