Wifi not working after install

Post by brettjohnson46 » Thu Aug 01, 2019 8:33 pm

So, I'm an idiot. I installed Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon on Dell Vostro 1700 via USB thumb drive. I now have lost control of my WiFi. I've got nothing at all. I read that Secure Boot can interfere with Wifi in a topic here. I searched my computers bios time and time again and cannot find anything that even refers to (Secure Boot) I can select various drives to boot from, but that's it. I did the same thing on my little brothers computer and had no problem connecting via WiFi. My WiFi was working perfectly fine with windows XP just moments prior to the change in OS. Please Help me out.

The terminal command

Code: Select all

mokutil --sb-state
should return whether or not SecureBoot is currently enabled or disabled on your machine

Sooo, I typed that into the terminal... got something about deb ... I don't know deb... ok, I know a deb.. thats some thing else.
The responding information was not as promising as I had hoped.
I've yet to try going hardwired. I don't have that ability at this time. I've gone wireless for so long, I don't have a cable anymore.

Do you have a wifi switch on the front or side that may be off?

Also, post the result of this command:

Code: Select all
