I have a strange problem: My WiFi connection is partwise very slow and sometimes works as expected.
My situation is the following: Sometimes I recognize that my connection is very slow, e.g. streams/videos switch to a low quality. I then simply qualify my current WiFi connection speed with speedtest.net. This provides me at least a rough information about my connection.
In the good cases, I see about 21Mbps download - when my WiFi connection is bad, I get around 2,5 Mbps. Having my notebook exactly on the same spot
When my wife runs speedtest, she constantly gets speeds around 21Mbps - no matter what result I get. So I assume that this is not a (temporary) problem of the WiFi setup.
I have also observed the following: I tried to reset my Fritzbox WiFi and e.g. switch to another channel. No change. I tried to disable and reenable my WiFi. No change. However, when I reboot my machine, I can also get to 21Mbps.
From the information provided by my router, I cannot see a difference between the "fast" and the "slow" situation. It always shows me:
2,4 GHz / n / 20 MHz (WLAN-n+b+g)
To be honest, I am a great fan of Linux Mint but out of ideas where to go from here. I have searched trough multiple "wifi slow" posts and through the internet, but I did not succeed with any of these hints. I am simply not experienced enough on what exactly to look or search for...
So can anyone please guide me in the right direction on where to look for differences? I assume there must be a difference somewhere in loading the driver or anything I am not aware of
