wifi in KDE no wifi in Xfce

Post by mister » Wed Aug 07, 2019 3:56 pm

Hello
I'm running Linux mint 18.2 Sonya. I installed it with the KDE desktop.
Because KDE takes a very long time to load on my old HP Pavilion, later on I installed Xfce because it is 'lighter' for my system.

I have Wifi working when I login to Plasma KDE
I have Wifi working when I login to Plasma KDE, log out and login again in Xfce
Wifi won't work if I boot straight away in Xfce without passing by KDE.

Can anybody explain what's happening and what can be done to have Wifi work in Xfce straightaway after boot?

Thanks for enlightening me,
Hope to hear from you.

You will most likely have to install the right driver in xfce also.
