<SOLVED> Getting WiFi Realtek RTL8821CE to run on Linux Mint 19.2

Post by it-place » Fri Aug 09, 2019 12:20 pm

Hi all,

today I've tried to get my WiFi RTL8821CE to run on a HP 14-ck0106ng notebook. With the running kernel 4.15.0-55-generic it didn't work. Following this instructions leads to errors on my system: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php ... st13793296
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 4.15.0-55-generic (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/rtl8821ce/v5.5.2_34066.20190614/build/make.log for more information.
The logfile says:
/var/lib/dkms/rtl8821ce/v5.5.2_34066.20190614/build/os_dep/linux/rtw_android.c: In function ‘rtw_and
roid_priv_cmd’:
/var/lib/dkms/rtl8821ce/v5.5.2_34066.20190614/build/os_dep/linux/rtw_android.c:665:49: error: macro "access_ok" requires 3 arguments, but only 2 given
if (!access_ok(priv_cmd.buf, priv_cmd.total_len)) {
After checking several thing I've installed the new kernel 5.0.0-23 and it works! :D

Have fun - Oliver
