Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon Wifi drops out constantly on Surface Pro 3

Post by SeanMallory » Fri Aug 23, 2019 7:17 am

Hi everybody, I have a Surface Pro 3 with Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon recently installed and I had a lot of problems with wifi connection

- Doesn't seems to work with 5GHz band

- Wifi keeps dropping down and I have to reboot again

- Wifi on/off button doesn't work once connection drops out, it says "connecting" and it goes very slow.
The entire network menu doesn't seems to work after that

- Also the SO freezed a couple of times and had to power off manually the device. Seem like a drivers problem

Welcome SeanMallory,

your wifi card is up, so it works. I've looked a little bit and don't find any hints, that there are problems with your wifi card and/or the driver on Ubuntu/Linux (your card is certificied on Ubuntu in some computer models), so I think something is interfering with a good connection or the settings between the router and your Surface Pro don't match. Here is a website with good advice to try out in case of a bad connection. You can go through them one by one and see if any of them will help with your problem:

If nothings helps, please show the outputs of the following terminal command, to see, what parameters your connection has:

Code: Select all

nmcli device wifi list

Code: Select all

lspci -nnk | grep -i net -A2

Code: Select all

iwconfig

Thank you very much, I'll try it if I have problems again. Regards

Hello SeanMallory,

what have you done to solve your problem? This is also interesting for other users. And you could then set the thread to solved.
