Old computer fixed, now won't connect to network

Post by jgn2112 »

I have an hp stream that I just fixed from a previous issue (storage full) after it sat unused for 7 months. Now it will not connect to the internet.
The bluetooth works, so toggling airplane mode doesnt resolve it. The pizza-esque network icon in the lower right has a red x on it and I cannot get it active. It remembers my networks (nothing has changed, same names, same passwords) but I cannot enable the wireless and there is no dedicated switch to toggle (other than the aforementioned airplane mode).
Curious if anyone has any ideas.
Thank you in advance. It always automatically connected before.

Can you run commands in the terminal? If so, post results of:

Code: Select all

 inxi -Fxz

Code: Select all

 rfkill list all

Code: Select all

 mokutil --sb-state

Well, it's a stream which means I cant even hook up an ethernet cable. So I have no easy way of copy/pasting the results of your requested commands. But I did run them, and the curious part of the inxi command was the part where it looks at the network...

Code: Select all

Network:
   Message: No Device data found.
That doesnt seem good. When I ran the cleanup from the safe boot to free up space, could it have wipe the driver to the network card?

Btw, nothing from the rfkill command...nothing was being blocked. And to final command it wouldn't recognize.

If you want the issue resolved, you need to find a way to get the requested information to us. Most people think to post a photograph when faced with no internet on the problem machine.

I apologize, but I thought that was frowned upon. I must be thinking of another forum.
