help with 'rtl8812au-dkms' driver for A6100 USB wireless

Post by SaintDanBert »

I recently installed Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon Edition and now have troubles with the driver for my Netgear™ A6100 USB wireless/ac adapter module rtl8812au-dkms.

Symptoms
  • at boot, the device is not detected/identified
  • as expected, the module does not get loaded
  • installing the package from Synaptic with reboot still does not detect and load
I get the following:

Code: Select all

prompt$ lsmod | grep 8812

8812au 1290240 0
cfg80211 704512 4 iwldvm,8812au,iwlwifi,mac80211

prompt$

and then this:
NOTE -- In the interest of space, I removed the content of repeate usb: and parm: records from the output below.

Code: Select all

prompt$ modinfo 8812au

I notice that this module appears as 8812au instead of rtl8812au. I don't know if that matters somehow. Sadly, (blush) I don't know enough to know how to check if it matters. Logs?

and continuing this:

Code: Select all
