Internet connection not accepted on LinuxMint Cinnamon

Post by Eno10 »

Hi,
only just installed Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon over a MBP from 2011. Everything went very well except when clicking connect on the internet connection window, it would just reappear a second later again.
My 2 wifis are very well found, have good strength... I tried connecting to my phone's hotspot which works just fine.
Could it matter that I chose encrypted in all installation option that asked me about it?
Would like to provide some maybe helpful info form inix on the network if I only figured out how to copy/paste or screenshot... :)
Any suggestions I could try?
Thanks a lot and I hope I havent broken too many posting-rules in my very first entry :)
Cheers!

You can try to disable power management of network manager with following commands.

Code: Select all

echo -e '[connection]\nwifi.powersave = 2' | sudo tee /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf

sudo systemctl restart network-manager

Hey kelebek333 and thanks for your suggestion.
I tried these comments, nothing changed though unfortunately.
As a MBP www worked, same day, once wiped and turned LinuxMint, the very same MBP shows three horizontal dots in the www-connection icon and wouldn't connect. Still, only hotspotting into my iPhone works. That should tell that hardware is fine and software isn't totally screwed either, or else hotspotting wouldnt work.
Anyone who knows more about what the difference in connecting to www or hotspot is, that's where the culprit likely is...

Without www this computer isn't very usable ;)

Thanks again to kelebek333 and looking forward to more thoughts to solve this!
