Wi-Fi Card Not Detected

Post by mkntrds »

After scrubbing Windows 8.1 from a brand new Mini PC, I'm having trouble accessing Wi-Fi that worked under the Windows setup. I'm running Mint 20, 64-bit Cinnamon. From my searches, this forum and elsewhere, it appears that Mint 20 isn't recognizing the wi-fi hardware. I tried earlier versions of Mint as well: 19.3 and 18.3. Currently, I can only connect via wired. I seem to have the same issue as Mathilda here: viewtopic.php?p=1898307#p1898307

With (wired?) internet connection, launch Driver Manager. Does it offer you a driver? If so, install it and reboot.

The Driver Manager indicates that my computer does not need any additional drivers.

Try this, one line at a time:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install build-essential -y
mkdir -p ~/build
cd ~/build
sudo apt install git
git clone https://github.com/brektrou/rtl8821CU.git
cd rtl8821CU
make
sudo make install
Reboot

Another option:

https://github.com/morrownr/8821cu

The installation instructions are included on the main page. This is a very recent driver that is performing very well here.

Hi,

From the main page, $ sudo ./dkms-install.sh returns:

I have no idea and I can't get my adapter to work. Thanks.
