Problem still persist.
Sometimes the boot from after a shutdown can result in the computer being slow and unresponsive.

The previous version kernel is removed after I install the latest version, so there is only 1 version of kernel left.

If need be, first establish temporary internet connection by other means.

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- Make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- Copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxpmrz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter, and don't omit the space after inxi!)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.

Do the same with the following four commands:

Code: Select all

rfkill list all

Code: Select all

iwconfig

Code: Select all

lsusb

Code: Select all

lspci

Re: MInt 19.3 Wifi not functioning after recent update

Post by Pjotr »

Unfortunately, you seem to have one of the few WiFi chipsets (MEDIATEK MT7630e) that are very problematic in Linux.... I'm afraid there's probably no good solution. :(

You might want to consider a USB WiFi dongle. Often such a dongle needs a driver as well (especially Realtek chipsets regularly do), but that's not too difficult to install.
