Struggling with getting Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) to work on LM 20.1 Ulyssa

Post by cucumber32 »

Hi all.
I made this topic about some dilemma I'm stuck in.
You see, I dual booted Windows 10.18363.1440 (1909) and Linux Mint the standard way. Made a Bootable USB, Made A Separate partition and installed Linux Mint that way.
But after installation, I couldn't get Wi-Fi to work. I tried using my Bootable USB in driver manager, and no luck. This PC I dual booted Linux Mint and Windows 10 on was my main machine: a HP Notebook AF-156SA. and it has a Broadcom 802.11 n Network Adapter. if anyone can provide any fixes, that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers! :D

Note I posted this on my Windows 10 OS.

See if you can get a temporary connection:

Then post the results of:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxz && rfkill list && iwconfig && mokutil --sb-state

Confirm that Secure Boot is disabled in your BIOS, as it's known to interfere with device drivers.

Since you're dual-booting with Windows, also confirm that Fast Startup is disabled in Windows power management -- otherwise Windows may not fully release your PC's resources when it shuts down, possibly leaving some devices in a frozen stupor.

Hello sleeper12, sorry if this is a late reply, but here's the info I got:
what I ran: inxi -Fxxxz && rfkill list && iwconfig && mokutil --sb-state
output: Network:
Device-1: Broadcom and subsidiaries BCM43142 802.11b/g/n
vendor: Hewlett-Packard driver: wl v: kernel port: 3100 bus ID: 02:00.0
chip ID: 14e4:4365
IF: wlo1 state: down mac: <filter>
Device-2: Realtek RTL810xE PCI Express Fast Ethernet
vendor: Hewlett-Packard driver: r8169 v: kernel port: 2000 bus ID: 03:00.0
chip ID: 10ec:8136
IF: enp3s0 state: down mac: <filter>
IF-ID-1: usb0 state: unknown speed: N/A duplex: N/A mac: <filter>
IF-ID-2: vmnet1 state: unknown speed: N/A duplex: N/A mac: <filter>
IF-ID-3: vmnet8 state: unknown speed: N/A duplex: N/A mac: <filter>.

Is there any way to fix: state: down?

You need to post the full results of that command. If it's easier, you can use something like imgbb or pastebin & just post the link to it here.
