[Solved] Wierd WIFI dropout problem

Post by tetzy »

I’m running the latest version of Mint and I update regularly.

For the past week I’ve been having sudden Wifi disconnections that I can only fix by rebooting my PC. Making my life odder yet, the wifi sometimes comes back on its own.

My

The very last thing I want to do is bother the experts...you have enough on your plates without me making your lives difficult, so I went through some of the other 'disconnection' threads hoping to fix my own problem. I found this in another help thread relating to disconnections:

Code: Select all

rfkill list && iwconfig && mokutil --sb-state

I ran the command - the results:

Code: Select all

In that same thread I also found the following:

Code: Select all

sudo sed -i 's/3/2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf

I ran this command as well, rebooted but still see the same disconnection problem. The system information I posted above is the result AFTER running that new command.

I can usually fix my own problems - I hope I haven’t made a mess in this instance.

I’m vexed, every other Wifi enabled device in my home works fine, the problem only exists with this PC.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
Do you have any ideas (other than "stop trying to fix your own #%$*ing problems, you moron")?

Let's try this:

Open a Terminal (Ctrl-Alt-T), then copy-and-paste the following command...

Code: Select all

echo "options ath9k btcoex_enable=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k_btcoex.conf
Reboot.

If you later wish to undo the above modification...

Code: Select all

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k_btcoex.conf

Thanks for your response - I've run that command and all seems good so far.

I'm surprised by the number of similar problems - funny how a small update can play with so many configurations...

You did a great job of narrowing the search, with all of the relevant and formatted system info you posted. Pondering time paid off.

Come back in a bit to put [SOLVED] into the title of your original post, if all continues to go well.
